ARTISTS AT THE SERVICE OF A RARE HORSE
“Horse Art” exhibition in Athens, Greece.
13 to 22 September, 2005
Our non-profit organisation has organised in France, Belgium and Greece a number of ”Horse Art” exhibitions in aid of the endangered Skyros horse. After the Skyros exhibition in July, we presented in Athens a unique collection of works – sculptures, paintings and art pictures – by 26 talented artists from Greece, Belgium, France, Norway and the USA :
Ioanna ASSIMENOU - Alexandra ATHANASSIADES - Pascale BOUCHOLZER – Gérald BUTHAUD - Christine CORNET – Christine DARBOUX - Yves DONNAY – Francis FELIX - Laurent FRISON - Luc GAZON – Françoise GRESSE – Jon Olav HELLE - Christiane JAVAUX - Makis KONSTANDELAKIS – Yiorgos LAMBROU - Michael LAWRENCE - Philippe MEYRIER - Audrey MIGEOTTE – Claudine MORSA – Miltos PAPASTERGIOU - Georges PENNAS – Martine PICARD-HELARY - Jean SPIROUX-MATHIEU - Aliki Alexandra STEEN - Ariane THONON - Marina VAMVAKA.
The inauguration of this double exhibition took place on Tuesday 13 September at the Art Gallery “EKFRASSI” in Kolonaki and on Wednesday 14 September in Plaka, at the headquarters of “ELLINIKI ETAIRIA” (EE), THE HELLENIC SOCIETY for the Protection of the Environment and the Greek Cultural Heritage.
At “EKFRASSI” the opening speeches concerning the Skyros breed and other endangered species, were given by Mrs Olympia Papayannakopoulou from the Greek Representation of the European Commission and Mr. Nikos Kritikos, Agrarian Specialist from the Skyros Municipality. After a general presentation of the “Horse Art “ artists and their work, STABLUS HALL, our catering sponsor and special partner in Athens and Corfu, offered an exceptional welcome drink and buffet.
Among other horse and art lovers who visited the Athens exhibition, we met the Hellenic Equestrian Federation and Organising Committee of the 2005 Jumping and Dressage World Cups in Athens. They offered us the opportunity to present the “Horse Art” exhibition on the premises of the Olympic Equestrian Centre of Markopoulo, where three world class competitions were going to be held a month later. On that special occasion, due to the pressing requests of “horsy” people and Art connoisseurs, we decided to present for the first time on a horse show, a couple of our pure-blooded Skyros horses.
Press clippings published during the Athens exhibition can be accessed online in the “NEWS” section of this site. Thank you.
